We just ate there tonight, had a fine meal, but left Yelping. Our son and his fiancee wanted us to try Eastside Thai and gave me a generous Fathers Day gift certificate. The food was very good, the price is a bargain and the wait service was good, BUT... We presented our gift certificate which covered almost twice the cost of our meals. We were told that we had to use it all that night, despite the 12-15 expiration date. One 'helpful' option offered was to buy more food. Despite the 4 star food, I give them a 1 and that's being kinder than I feel.

Delicious food! These guys serve the best Pad Thai I've ever had. Love their Pho as well. Can't wait to go back.

I don't really write review for anything but this place is so worth the money. Husband took us out to try different restaurant around our area and we stumble upon east side thai. It's not as big as you expected, but I do recommend it.

Love this place. Food is consistent, not like most other restaurants where it's hit or miss, it always taste as good as it did the first time. My favorites from top to bottom: 1) combination pho-meatballs, beef slices, shrimp, PORK BELLY. Broth is like no other broth I've had before in a great way GREAT HANGOVER FOOD!!!! 2) beef pad thai- rice noodles stir fried with a few veggies your choice of meat and topped with crushed peanuts, every other place I've been to makes this dish very gooey but not here, DELICIOUS!!!! 3) kapoun-round noodles in a semi spicy curry and coconut soup, usually chicken taste best with this dish (can also add pork belly for a unique taste) bamboo shoots and other stuff I'm not sure of haha 4) tofu soup-well tofu in a soup with other herbs and spices your choice of meat i usually take the flavored ground pork. Excellent dish if you're not in the mood for something too strong in flavors....AHEM.... hangovers.... you guessed it, it's pretty busy on the weekends from 11-1 but i still go. Hope this helps and hope you enjoy!!!!

I only come here during my lunch hour when I'm working. I am obsessed with their beef salad. It's the best here. Way better than Lao Thai in Frogtown. Love love love the beef salad. Not a big fan of their drunken noodles though.

Not Thai food. It's Hmong food, and it sucks and is overpriced. Stay away. The place is tiny and can barely sit 10 people. Parking sucks too. Why is it still open? I would eat the crap at Hmong village over this place.

Heather S.
This is a cute little place with a modern feel inside. The only down side is that it is right by Ward 6, which means I find myself flip flopping on where I want to eat every time I park. I had red curry and my husband had the pad Thai and both were yummy. Judging by nearly every single other table though, we should have had the pho! Everyone had it and it looked amazing. Next time...unless I change my mind and go to Ward 6- then next next time.

We go here often and I keep forgetting to rate this place, anyways, I'm always satisfied when I come here. Thanks to this place, all other thai/asian restaurants that I've been to cannot compare! The remodel is great as well! I've tried almost everything on their menu and I've been satisfied with everything!
(5)

A more authentic taste of what Thai food is. It sure does remind me of Thailand as well. I've tried a few of the dishes here and they are all pretty good. But one thing you can't go wrong on is the Special PHO!!!!!!! I grew up in these hoods and had Pho all over town and hands down, Eastside Thai is by far the best. Be sure to order only the large or lesser. The jumbo tends to thicken up and it makes the soup chunky and sticky. My friends encountered the same as well. Place is even better now that it's remodeled.

ADDICTED Newly remodeled interior and bomb Thai food, why wouldn't you go here? If you are ever in Eastside St. Paul make a stop here to have lunch or dinner or take out. Their menu has pictures of each dish so there aren't any surprises and who doesn't like some good food porn to get you in the mood before a meal? Highlights: Vegetable Medley Stir Fry Drunkard Noodles Pad Thai Pineapple Curry Spring rolls Egg Rolls Cream Cheese Wontons EVERYTHING Eastside Thai = Delicious

This is a great little Thai restaurant on the east side. Nice atmosphere, good service and good food. The food is not quite as good as On's Kitchen, but it is a great option if you're in the neighborhood. The portions are big enough to bring home leftovers. Added bonus is that they give you a nice, reusable to go container rather than crappy styrofoam.

One of the best Hmong-Thai food in town. Service is great. My food, especially pork belly is among my favorite. Pork belly stir fry is awesome.

Pork Belly Fried Rice - I had no idea this was an authentic Thai dish. Crispy pork belly in a nicely flavored fried rice. Adding a side of pork belly for $3 makes it even better. Everything that we've eaten here has been very good.

Everything was good--it was just a little crowded and muggy. I ordered the large pho combo and it was good, I didn't really like the texture of the pork in it because it was very hard to chew, but other than that the dish was well prepared. I also ordered the Thai Green Papaya salad and it by far one of the better ones I've tasted. The sauce was light, refreshing, and tasty. The service was decent. Went for lunch so not a big deal that service was extremely slow in serving but it did take a while to get our food. The employees were decent. Our server seemed like she was angry and didn't really want to be there--I've worked retail and can understand but do try to control yourself in front of customers. Other than that, food was great and the place looked nice.

I really tried to fall in love with this place, but unfortunately I wasn't able to. We ordered fried rice, pad see yew, chicken laab, cream cheese wontons, and the combo pho. Fried rice and pad see yew: They were both okay. I didn't taste anything that WOWed me. If I came here again, then I would order these two dishes. Chicken laab: There was hardly any chicken...it was mainly all onions. Combo pho: The broth was very watered down. This was what I was looking forward to the most since people were raving about this on Yelp. The only think different about it compared to other places is that they have pork belly meat. The service here was awesome! Everyone was super nice and welcoming.

4/27/15 Ordered combo pho, grilled beef salad & vermicelli salad. Pho broth was good, but the pork belly could have been cut thinner. It just got too chewy after sitting in the broth after a while. Vermicelli salad was just OK. 'Grilled' beef salad was too sweet than savory. They put way too much dressing on it that the veggies were swimming in it at the bottom & soggy. The beef wasn't grilled, maybe boiled. Knocked off a star for the servers. They weren't nice, but not rude. Seemed like we were hardly acknowledged :(

Loved it the first time so we went back again! Service speed has greatly improved so they totally deserve 5 stars!! We got the Pad Thai, Pineapple Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and Fried Pork Belly Fried Rice. We also got a side of cream cheese Wontons. The rices were delish. Pineapple had a wonderful flavor. The pork belly was good, had a very strong pork flavor but if you love pork you will find it enjoyable. Pad Thai and SAS Chicken were very good too. I lived in Thailand for a bit and I can honestly say this is some of the more authentic Thai food in the cities. Everything was served very fresh and hot And to those who think the neighborhood is sketchy...its not. Its the cities, just as sketchy as in downtown MSP. Give this place a shot, you will be glad you did!

Pho is the best. Different from the usual Vietnamese pho. Pad Thai is good, it lacks a bit in the flavor though (sauce). Papaya is excellent (Thai style). Fried rice is delicious. Yam beef with sticky rice is excellent. I love the eggplant, onion, lime, rice powder, cilantro and green onion mix. Overall, the majority of the restaurant's food is good to excellent. Service could be better, but not too much to complain. It's a small cozy place, family-owned/run. The owners are nice.

Horrible experience. Had to wait forever, they forgot our order. Very disorganized. Food was cold and we were upset. They offered us the food for free rather than hear why we were upset. We didn't want to waist the food, and my son had to eat something after sitting there for over an hour. Never again!!! There are many Thai restaurants and other places near by that can give a better service experience. It's a service industry and the service i received from this place sucked. I'm usually the one that assumes positive intent and I have to be honest...they dropped the ball real hard and the experience me and my family received was bad. NEVER EVER GOING BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN. By any means necessary!

The Massaman curry is delicious. By far my favorite spot for Thai food on the Eastside. Same owners run Soberfish sushi place in Seward neighborhood Minneapolis, but the curry here is spicier and even better if you can believe it. I usually get it with beef. My only complaint is that it can be a little hot in here on summer days.

Brittney P.
I would love to check in here, but they are closed, even though their posted hours say they should be open. This happens ALL the time, they always close early, they're never open, or their doors are locked even though there are people inside. Super frustrating. I'll never eat here. I'm taking my business to On's Thai Kitchen in the Midway.

Let's just say... I paid $7 for a bowl of iceberg lettuce disguised as vermicelli salad. Come to think of it, anything that I've ordered there other than the pho has been a huge disappointment.

Now I've only ever had about 3 things from here, but I used to go here all the time with coworkers and I've never had a complaint. Pad see yew, pho and egg rolls are great. Smaller place with limited seating but rarely too crowded to have to wait. Which, is a good thing.

GUYS. Remember how in my last review I commented on how the interior decoration of this place left a lot of room for improvement? Well, they ROCKED it. Closed for about 4 or 5 days while they gutted, rennovated, and improved this space. It's modern, and sleek, and more efficient now. It feels cleaner (not that that was bothering me), and it just LOOKS awesome. The staff continues to be the most delightful, and the food is as good as ever. BONUS: they even fixed that horrid bathroom up. It's divine.

Looks like management is not interested in success of this business. A really foul smell hits you when you enter the restaurant. They don't serve alcohol. Service is slow and cold. Food is ok at the best.

My mom recommended this little restaurant. It's in a sketchy neighborhood but who cares because their pho is amazing! Thai Pho's broth is a little darker, the noodles were cooked to perfection and my favorite part, the meat: The meatballs are big and the pork belly is crispy even after being in the broth for so long! I've been to almost every Pho restaurant and this place definitely stands out from the rest. I can only say one negative thing about their place: Their one little bathroom they have downstairs. It is tiny and not very well kept.

My go to PHO place! Love the pork belly in mines! And also the fried rice with pork belly. Awesome place run by a couple. Only thing that bothers me is the space. There's not enough tables since the place is so small.

First off parking is kinda hard, small space, often gets cold because of air conditioning and multiple fans. But even these bad attributes don't deter me from coming! The Pho is delicious because of the broth, the Thai iced coffee is godlike, and good service.

I love Eastside Thai! I have worked on the Eastside for 5 years and have not found food this good . Best Pad Thai and the papaya salad is amazing as well. Ate it 3 times last week and plan on eating it for lunch again today.
1st off, I live in the area and the neighborhood isn't nearly as "sketchy" as these complainers are, so don't let that throw you off. My husband and I eat here once a week and I order something different every time. Each time we've been very pleased. My favorites are the Chicken Laab salad (eat with sticky rice, you won't regret it), and the pineapple fried rice.

I think you have to know what to get here. Curry and pho are outstanding, though the curry over fried tilapia was bad because the fish was fried within an inch of being a brittle mass of breading and bones. I liked the pad thai, and thought the pad see yew was bland. Stick with the curries and pho, and you won't be disappointed.

I don't enjoy writing less than positive reviews, but I felt the need here to balance out some of the other reviews. The food was not good. Period. There are a zillion other Thai places around town that are MUCH better. We ordered 3 items: spring rolls, pad thai with shrimp, and red curry with beef. Not one item was good. The spring rolls didn't seem fresh and were filled with 90% iceberg lettuce. Odd. The flavor of the pad thai was just plain weird. You know, you expect a certain flavor and texture from pad thai, and this was like they spilled half a bottle of some musty dry spice in it. The curry was the closest to ok, but the beef in it was rubbery and kind of gross. None of the food seemed fresh. They were also kind of slow. The only good thing is that service was very friendly. We were there at lunchtime during the week, and amazingly the place was quite busy. More power to 'em, I guess. But I didn't enjoy paying money to be disappointed and get a sad, upset tummy.

First time here and will probably be the last. We ordered the jumbo pho and chicken wings. The wings were over cook and dry The pho was indeed a jumbo size but the pho was kind of soggy and the broth was thick. The plus about the pho was probably the shrimp/meatballs and pork belly. Oh and they serve their pho with peanut. I don't like peanut but my fiancé likes it.
